As we head into the high season for tourist travel, there are a lot of sightseeing activities to consider at every destination. The hop-on hop-off buses are the only way to go in my opinion. I have ridden them in DC, San Francisco, New York, London, Savannah, and other cities. I can hop off and spend time where I want, take photos, and then hop back on and go to the next spot. I can’t imagine trying to get around New York any other way, and the tour commentray always directs me to things I would have never seen. the ironwork in savannah is an example of info that I heard on the tour, so I hopped off and got some gfreat photos of unique Savannah architectural elements.
I just got home from vacation, and the bus tour was perfect for me.
I have been a fan of the traditional bus tours in the past but in the last two cities that I have visited (San Diego and San Francisco), I have chosen to take the hop-on, hop-off tour instead and how I have become a believer! You see and learn about all of the major highlights of a city while choosing the speed at which you wish to sightsee. This flexibility is especially ideal for any parent with smaller children (mine is 9). You can have as many breaks as the kids (and parents) need. In San Francisco, the ticket that I got was valid for 48 hours so we actually visited an aquarium and museum on top of seeing all of the major highlights. A bang for your buck in my opinion!
